I get all the way into the packages, and no matter which I choose It dies
off after 2-3 megs of installed files. If I try and run it again it has a
failure initializing the RPM database, so that I can't make incremental
progress toward anything, I simply have to reformat the partitions to try
installing again with some twiddled parameters.
I finally even reformatted the hard disk, got OS/2 2.1 Boot Manger installed
(yes, even that went well compared to RH 5.x ), and put / root in the first
100M of the drive. No damn help at all, it still refused to install.
I guess the good news is that I had this same problem on a K6/Asus mb system
with Red Hat 5.0, except in that case I managed to make little incremental
progress each tiome I installed, and finally got a bootable Linux system.
I've had good results with Slackware in the past, so I ordered June/July
InfoMagic Linux, hopefully I'll get somewhere with that!
