AGP only running at 1x

AGP only running at 1x

Post by Jim Shaffe » Sat, 15 Oct 2005 01:41:47

Since upgrading to Mandrake 2005 from a much older version that used
xfree86 instead of or whatever it's called, I'm getting
messages like this:

agpgart: Found an AGP 3.0 compliant device at 0000:00:00.0.
agpgart: Device is in legacy mode, falling back to 2.x
agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:00:00.0 into 1x mode
agpgart: Putting AGP V2 device at 0000:01:00.0 into 1x mode

The device in question shows up in lspci as:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV200
QW [Radeon7500] (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 0f2a
Flags: bus master, stepping, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 64,
IRQ 16
        Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M]
        I/O ports at c000 [size=256]
        Memory at fe9f0000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
Expansion ROM at fe9c0000 [disabled] [size=128K]
        Capabilities: [58] AGP version 2.0
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2

The graphics speed is acceptable for what I use it for, but I don't
like mysteries.  Any ideas?

1. growisofs works only with 1x (fall back to 1x)

I have use

Nec-1300A ide

2600+ Athlon

when I burn a dvd with

growisofs -speed=4 -Z /dev/scd0=image.dvd

it only work with 1x or it fall back after 5 seconds form 4x to 1x
