These are files from 2.2.5, I think. They work with the newer kernels,
but are not needed anymore. There is now a new backend for the
Snapscan, version 0.7, that works with the newer sg.[hc].

Hello, Harald. My Agfa Snapsacn has never worked with the 2.2.x kernels.
It stopped working as soon as I upgraded from 2.0.x.

I am interested in the new Snapscan backend. I am using a Debian
package of Sane 1.0.1-3. By itself, this most certainly doesn't work
with my Snapscan. Only the replacement of the gs.c and sg.h files get it
working.

How would I change the Snapscan backend? How do I tell which version I
already have?

Thanks for your help.

Your backend is too old if you haven't downloaded the new one :-).
SANE 1.0.1 has the Snapscan-0.6 backend, you'll need 0.7 for the new
kernels.

Go to <http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~charter/SnapScan/snapscan.html> and
follow the instructions there.

1. USB Scanner (AGFA SnapScan 1212u) and SANE?

Hi all,

I have an AGFA SnapScan 1212u USB Scanner and want to run it using SANE on
my Linux box. I unfortunately noticed that I just found a driver patch
against the version 1.0.1, the current version is 1.0.7; the patch isn't
included in the newer versions of SANE - *why* ?

Does anyone know how to get this small piece of hardware running on Linux?

Thanks in advance,
Christian Parpart.
