Does 3C905 PCI work with Diamond Stealth Trio 64 (S3 764) PCI?

Did anyone make 3C905 PCI (or 3C590, 3C900 PCI) work with Diamond
Stealth 64 2200 (Trio 64) PCI under RedHat 4.2?  I cannot even start
Metro X when using any 3Com PCI ether card. The network driver seems
loaded successfully. Ifconfig gives me all the correct setting. However,
I just cannot even ping the computer on my lan. Also the X server cannot
start. Anyone has any idea?

Idea as usual to 3Com PCI cards - if You have disable plug-n-pray
(right thing to do with some cards) then I think that they have
IRQ conflict - 3C900 tends to use the same (10) as graphics board.

1. diamond stealth 64, S3 765 or 764?

Hi,

I am planning purchasing a cheap system for linux/xfree86.

From Xfree86 3.3 and previous version documentations, I learned that
Diamond stealth 64 with chipset 764, 864, 964 and 732 are supported.
However, the www.diamondmm.com says that stealth 64 2201XL (the guy with
2M DRAM I am thinking)has a S3 Trio V+ 765 (I guess this "V" might mean
"Virge"). Thus I am confused.

I also checked redhat4.2. 86C765, Trio64, Virge and Trio V+ are supported.
But I am still not sure whether they are the same.

Thanks,

Liyu Liu
