1. Need help / Kernel 2.4.7 hangs at parport detection.

I have compiled 2.4.7 (redhat)on my sony vaio laptop. Enabled parallel port
support.Successful compilation.

Now I am trying to boot the kenel which I have compiled. The problem is
started here and system hangs.

parport0: PC-style at 0x378 ( 0x778) [ PCSPP, TRISTATE, COMPAT, ECP ]
parport0: irq 7 detected

The system hangs after this messages. Could anyone suggest what should I do
further to resolve this issue ?.
