RivaTNT Video Driver

Post by Audio Apocalyps » Sat, 21 Nov 1998 04:00:00

Does anybody out there have a driver that will allow me to run a RivaTNT 16
Meg video Card under Red-Hat 5.2.  The most ram it will let me setup on a
video card is 8 megs.  Is that the max I am able to run?????   Anybody have
any ideas?

Thanks.

Just a very silly question

What do you need 16MB video ram for, when there is no hardware
acceleration for 3D graphics under Linux (yet) ?
(Unless of course you need something like 2024x1036 at TrueColor (which
a 250Mhz RamDac will probabely only display at something like 60hz
.....)

Just a Question ;-)

Actually the RivaTNT SVGA driver that nVidia used to have on there site and
I assume the one that comes with XFree86 3.3.3 auto detect the RAM on your
card, so comment that video ram line out of your XF86Config file.

Good Luck

Hi,
You can also use the svga server on the dimension 128 site (forgot the
adress) look in www.riva3d.com and then go to dimension 128 then xserver
then the glibc version, copy it where your XFfree86_svga is, run the x
configuration programm (i use sax) and it will work (it works for me --
autodetecting 16mb without problem).

Greetings,

Michael
