linux on Dell Latitude XPi ???

Hello,

I am interested in running LINUX on a laptop. The machine is
a Dell-Latitude XPi with a Dell PCMCIA Ethernet card.

Does anyone out there know if LINUX will work on this machine?
How about the Ethernet card, is it supported?

I really would appreciate some help on this. I want to put LINUX
on a removable harddisk (which I still have to buy). I want to
be sure that it will work before I spend the time and money.
