Galaxy (AZTECH) Sound card problem

Galaxy (AZTECH) Sound card problem

Post by NKolv » Sat, 03 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Hello again,

Im running RH6.1 and want to instal & use my sound card. Sndconfig
recognises the card and builts conf.modules but it does'nt work.

Rebooting ends up in "device busy" [FAILED] - message.

But a look ad /proc files does'nt show any "double bookings".

conf.modules looks like:

alias sound galaxy
pre-instal sound /sbin/insmod sound dmabuf=1
alias midi opl3
options opl3 io=0x388
options sgalaxy io=0x534 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=3 sgbase=0x220

sounds reasonable after checking thru windooffs.

Anyone any hint?

Best Regards,
NoKo

NoKo,
Sometime ago I posted a request for help in configuring an Aztech Sound
Galaxy ISA card with the AZT2320 chip (Is that what you have? If not,
disregard the rest of this message). All I received were similar tales of
problems with this particular chip and no-one seemed to know how to fix it.
The Linux hardware and sound information at the Linux doc project indicated
that there were beta drivers available but all my system ever did on
modprobe was hang completely (RH5.2) or say that there was a conflict
(RH6.0). It looks like you got further than I did as the sndconfig file was
never created.

My solution? Got hold of an ancient ESS1868 audio drive ISA card that works
fine.

Sorry!

Tim

Yes, exactly.

Thanks Tim for this answer although it
gives me the feeling, that I'm lost with this card. Or should I hack the driver
;-(

hi,
maybe you should try the alsa driver page:
www.alsa-project.org . look at the table under the soundcards
link on the left. if supported, download the 3 tgz files there,
and read the alsa- sound how to on the site....good luck!
