My fancy new Turtle Beach 8x CDROM (actually an Optics Storage 8422, which
uses an ATAPI interface) does not run reliably under kernel 1.2.13, but
seems to run OK under a nameless commercial OS. I've experimented with
hardware setup and boot parameters and don't notice anything unusual. The
drive is smoothly detected, mounts OK, and reads modest volumes of data
without a hiccup. BUT, then it decides its tray is open, takes a
timeout or two, and just generally fails to get down to business.
SOMETIMES it hangs the system, but more often it simply fails to read
about 25% of the requested data.
A typical /var/log/messages run follows. Ideas anyone??? THANKS!!!!
