Linux on HP Vectra XU (P90)?

Has anyone managed to get Linux to run on a HP Vectra XU (P90)?
When I tried to install Slackware it looked like it couldn't
handle the SCSI-controller. I've tried to locate information
about the controller, but the only thing I've come up with so
far is the "integrated SCSI2-controller" from the manual. No
word about what kind of SCSI-chip they use.

I'm beginning to get really fed up with Windooze, so PLEASE help! :-)

I have a patched version of D. Frieauff's AM53/79C975 SCSI driver that
works with the HP Vectra XU available on:

1. Linux on HP Vectra XU

Has anybody out there tried to put Linux on an HP Vectra system?  We
have two new dual processor Pentium Pro  Vectra systems that we'd like
to outfit with Linux, but when I tried to boot up with the Slackware
"Boot" disk, none of the PCI bus hardware was recognized - each of the
cards show up as an "Unknown PCI device" (including the SCSI controller,
so I could go no further with the installation).  I tried several boot
images with the same results.

I wasn't too surprised that the PCI SCSI controller wasn't found since
it is built into the motherboard (it shows up as an Adaptec 2940 under
Windows NT, however), but I was more surprised that the video card
(Matrox MGA Millenium) and the ethernet card (HP J2585A 10/100VG) were
not found since they are separate cards plugged into the bus.

I scanned the various linux newsgroups and the only thing I found that
was remotely similar was a problem with recognizing the PCI Bios in
Compaq Presario machines.  Could this be at all relevant to my problem?

Any suggestions?  Please send e-mail.
