My problem was that the CD-ROM comes with jumper setting as "secondary"
which is factory default. After changed to "primary" and select the
driver with ide?? instead of SoundBlaster driver, it works fine. And
I put the CD-ROM onto the second IDE connector on my motherboard which
uses the device hdc.

1. RedHat/Slackware 3.0 would find SoundBlaster 16 CD-ROM, help!

I got a SoundBlaster 16 half year ago which comes with a sound card
and a 4xCDROM which I don't know who made it. It card has two IDE
settings. I have tried the third IDE(default) with IRQ 11 or 12, and
I have tried with IDE #2 with IRQ of 15, and I have tried cable the
CD-ROM into motherboard's second IDE connector. All works with window
95. But the linux RedHat/Slackware don't recognise the CD-ROM.

One thing I am puzzlled is that, the setup program come with linux
is probing address 230, 260, etc. But the SoundBlaster book says
the IDE #2 is in i/0 address of 170 and the ide #3 is in 1E8. Even
I force the boot linux to 170, it still not finding it.

Anyone with experience with this cd-rom? thanks in advance.
