Anyone with any thoughts or experience why I should _not_ purchase an
HP pavilion ze4400 series notebook, if I'm planning on putting Linux
on it?

One thing I'm worried about is a Linux-minded friend claims that some
Wireless cards, made by BroadCom, don't work or don't work well w/
Linux due to maker not releasing specs.
Huh. I thought Mandrake was RH made easier for novices...Quote:> you should have no problems depending on the distro you use. SuSE 8.2 and

1. problem installation linux HP pavilion ze4400
Hello,
I speak French and a little English, I thus will try to be simple, here my
problem: I downloaded the 3 Iso of linux redhat9 and they function very well
(I installed this bone on my desktop PC) but I try to install it on my
portable, it boot on the CD-Rom, asks me to support on ENTER to start the
installation in graphic mode. It charges me then the driver "ohci1394" (?)
and with the following screen proposes to me to test Cd, I must answer by OK
or SKIP, but not average to choose OK or SKIP, the keyboard does not
function. I tested by connecting an external keyboard, nothing. Identical
mouse. A solution? I checked in the BIOS, but nothing private individual My
configuration is: AMD Athlon-XP 2500+ 512Mo RAM-DD 60Go.
It would seem that the portable PC have bcp problems with LINUX. Mine
is a HP PAVILION ze4400
I also tried the installation in mode text, mode "hardware probing", mode
"mediacheck", mode "rescue" but nothing non-plus.
Thank you in advance for your solutions
