Installation of RetHat 6.2 onto UDMA-66 HD on BP6 mb (slightly different question)

I know similar things have been asked 1000 times before, but this is
slightly different (I think).

I actually need to install linux (RedHat 6.2) onto my UDMA-66 hard drive -
so, as for as I can tell, the I can't run the patches posted for previous
questions, as linux isn't installed yet.  This is my first attempt at using
linux, so I know next to nothing about it.  Could someone tell me exactly
what to do, as I am very new to all this.  I am trying to install it off a
bootable CD, and I already have Win98 installed, if any of that makes any
difference.  And I have about 4GB unpartitioned to install linux onto.
The motherboard is the ABit BP6 and the hard drive is the IBM Deskstar
13.5GB UDMA-66.

Thanks,
James.

1. old EIDE HD + UDMA 33 HD on a UDMA 66 board

hi, all

I decided to keep my old EIDE WD hard drive as a backup
with a new UDMA 33 IBM deskstar on a Intel CC820 motherboard
which has a UDMA 66 capable cable.
Since this UDMA66 80pin cable is backward compatible with all
PIO and UDMA modes, I know this setup will work.
My question is "would it be any performance loss for this
setup?"  I mean, would the new IBM be affected by the presence
of the legacy EIDE drive ?
Maybe it's obvious to some of you guys, or it's been answered
somewhere, but could anyone out there shed a light on this?
TIA,

Wonil
