This is a major point of confusion for people not well-versed in Linux.
Slackware and RedHat are two different Linux distributions, not two
different operating systems.
Slackware, RedHat, Debian and any other Linux distributions contain the
SAME SOFTWARE. They all use the same source code for the programs, so
all the programs will have the same capabilities. They use the same
kernel source, so they all have the same kernel drivers available to
them.
The major differences between distributions is in the way they install,
and in the amount of "window dressing" they provide. RedHat provides you
with a canned, fully operational environment, while Slackware provides
you with a bare bones environment that the operator is supposed to set
up according to the desired use of the system.
The answer to your question is yes. As long as the kernel has the
driver, it doesn't matter which distribution you use. Read the Zip
mini-HOWTO.
