Q:Adaptec AHA-2940 PCI scsi controller

Post by root » Thu, 12 Oct 1995 04:00:00

I see various people using the AHA-2940 scsi controller with linux. The
qusestion I have is where can I get the drivers and the information on
how to add them to the kernal.  I installed linux with the later slackware
distribution (2.0.0) on tsx-11.mit.edu (kernel 1.28) but could find no
drivers for the AHA-2940.  Where should I look?

                                Sincerely yours,

1. Adaptec AHA-2940 PCI-SCSI Controllers

We recently installed SCO Open Server Network on a dual-Pentium EISA
bus system.  We are using two Adaptec AHA-2940 controllers.  One has
two Seagate hard-drives, a Plextor CD-ROM, and a Conner DAT drive on
one controller, and two Seagate hard-drives and a Conner QIC drive on
the other.  We are using the Adaptec supplied alad boot-time loadable
driver.
We have had intermittent problems with unrecoverable SCSI read/write
errors on hard drives on controller 0.  I lost file systems after two
of these occasions (the last time was our root file system--OUCH!).  I
have tried a different controller and several different hard-drives.
Right now I'm wondering if the problem is in my PCI slot or perhaps in
the alad driver.  Has anyone else had any similar problems?
