Not work X-Window on ATI Fury Pro (chipset ATI Rage 128 Pro)

Post by Citylin » Wed, 04 Jul 2001 03:34:50

I have a video adapter ATI Fury Pro (chipset ATI Rage 128 Pro). I am
using the OS
Red Hat 6.2. I can't to start X-Window. Xconfigurator can't to recognize
value of
video memory on this plate. I think, I must to install special X-Server
for work this
video system.
Tell me, please, which X-Server I must to install, and where I can to
get it (URL).
May be, I am needing to install next version XFree86 ? Which ?
Help me, if You can!
Thanks!
Dima.

Probably, you need to unsubscribe and stay home in your little Linux hovel.
This is a help group.  (look it up, "help group" on the web.).

As a probable Linux newbie, you might be unaware that one of the signal
weaknesses in Linux is that one needs to have expertise to actually figure
out HOW to ask for help or WHERE to look for it.  Linux as desktop
replacement for Windows?  Not with your attitude..and not with current Linux
documentation.

Jim

PS: Thanks for the help.

No it isn't! You are confused .. this is the linux hardware discussion
group. So please look up "discussion" on the web. The group has a
charter, which your news client should show you if you ask it.

?? The standard place to look for help is in the manual of the distro
he is using, which should tell him at once where to look on his disk
for the howtos.

The one that comes with the distro, whatever it was. That's what they
sell!
