recently purchasd an asus b1 series notebook with a pctel modem, i get
the following output from lspci -vv:

[Hayes/16750])

Stepping+ SERR- FastB2B-

<TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR+

PME(D0+,D1-,D2+,D3hot+,D3cold+)

i am not a fan of using modules, i have my sound compiled in, not as a
module, but when inserting pctel modules, my sound craps up and modem
is still not detected by wvdial conf, is there possibly a kernel patch
for pctel modems...i dont like modules...
