I got XFree 3.2 and FVWM95 2.0.42a working but the system often locks up
(can't ctl-alt-bs or ctl-alt-del) during use or even when startx is coming up
and drawing the windows. I tried both 8bit and 16bit SVGA with no virtural
server. I have RedHat 4.0 which runs fine when not in X. When X does work, I
can do any function but I can't go more than 10 minutes or so w/out a lockup.
Most lockups seem to occur when doing mouse movement or moving a window.

I understand the Edge support for XFree3.2 is considered to be beta but if
someone has it working well, I'd like to see how it is configed. If you have
these two working w/out lockups, could you please post or email your
XF86Config file?

Also, is there a sound driver (NV1) for the Edge card?

My system is a..

Gigabyte 586HX/512kPB
Cyrix P166+ Rev 2.6
Diamond Edge 3D 2000 (SGS Thomson chipset)
32mb EDO RAM
NCR 810 SCSI (Linux is running on a Seagate 1gb scsi drive)
Logitech (MS compatible serial mouse)

I experience exactly the same problem with my Edge 3D 2000.

I also have a Cyrix P166+, maybe it's the Cyrix or the combination of an
Edge 3D and the Cyrix that is causing the lockup... If I know how to fix it,
I'll let you know.

I've got responses from other people who have the same problem using an Intel
chip - the Cyrix chip does not seem to be the problem. Since XFree says the
Edge driver should be considered early beta, my guess is that it simply is
buggy. There is a place at www.xfree86.org that you can post a problem.
Everyone who has the problem should post this so that the author of the Edge
driver knows it is consistently happening.

I am using a 3d2240 with cyrix 166 XFree 3.2 on redhat 303 it works fine.
However there seems to be some problems using 3d2000 with sound cards at least in windows NT

I have Cyrixx 166+ , Edge 3D 2000 and I use slackware not redhat and Ive
never had any such problems maybe its Redhat ???
