Sun 21" Monitor and Linux

Hi,

I'm trying to get a 21" Sun Sparc 5 monitor
working under XFree3.1.2 and Linux 1.3.45 but
haven't had any luck so far.  The graphics
card I'm using is Vision (ATI Mach64 Graphics
Xpression 2Mb DRAM).

Has anyone had any success with the Sun 21"
monitors?

Many workstation-monitors need video-signals that are different from
VGA-signals: They need sync-on green. I don't know, if your monitor
needs that. If there are 5 BNC connectors at the back of the monitor
it should workwithout an adaptor. Otherwise, if there are three
connectors, you need an adaptor to make it work. I built such an
adaptor for a 17" DEC workstation monitor and it works quite OK.

If you need that adaptor, mail me for more details.

Thanks,
Actually, I have a commercially purchased adapter cable that
interfaces the Sony monitor, model GDM 20D10, connector and
the VGA connector.

I tried setting up Accelerated X for it, but it didn't work.
I tried each of:

as monitor types, but the monitor remains blank even after
running startx or xdm.

BTW, I'm using an Vision, ATI Mach64 VLB Graphics Xpression.
According to the manual, the card should be able to run with
these frequencies.

Any ideas?  Better yet, does anyone have a XF86Config
file configured for this type of setup?
