Adaptec 1535 + Slackware 4.0

Post by Ben Bau » Wed, 08 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I am having some trouble getting an Adaptec 1535
recognised by Linux 2.2.6 (Slack4.0).  I am using
the scsi.s kernel and I tried append="aha1542=0x130,11,4,5"
in the lilo settings, but no luck.  According to several
newsgroup postings, the 1535 is "a 1542CP without BIOS".

The card has a 4 switch dip on it to toggle pnp/not
and set the address.  I have tried (with PnP disabled)
130 and 330 but to no avail.

If I have it right, I edit /etc/lilo.conf, then run /sbin/lilo
then reboot and the new lilo.conf should be in effect.

What am I missing?

Isn't that also an AIC7xxx chip?
I know there were some SCSI cards that had to have the AIC7xxx drivers
installed to run.

I have it working now.  Turns out the scsinet.s kernel I was
using was detecting the card as a 1542 (as it should), but then
was* after reporting probing for <fdomain>.  Once I used the
aha1542.s kernel and set the io to 330h, all was happy.  Works
well and the card only cost me $30.

1. Adaptec AHA1510 and AHA 1535

Howdy,

Does anyone know if either of the above controllers are supported with the
current kernel?

I looked at the SCSI how-to, and they list some support for the 1510, but
they don't even mention the 1535.

Thanks!
