Need site to read about hardware compatibility?

Post by ByTo » Mon, 02 Dec 2002 20:05:58

Hello all.....Yes, I am a very serious * to Linux so this is where
I may need to start...... :0)

I have tried installing Mandrake 9.0 & Red Hat 7.3 with no success. My
screen sits with a PI and a blinking cursor & I can't do anything. I
guess I'll start by checking my hardware.

I've tinkered with Linux before & the only thing close that I've come to
sort of understanding was Lindows 2.0, which installed without a hitch.
Yes, I know, Lindows is no comparison I guess.(just the thought of i-n-
d-o-w-s in the word is a little scary)

Any info on where to start would be great....

Thanks!

1. Need Most RECENT Hardware Compatibility List

I am interested in running a dual boot system with Windows NT and either Caldera's
Commerical Linux Distribution, or a non-commercial Linux distribution.  At the same
time, I am considering purchasing some new hardware (probably a video card, CD-ROM
drive, and sound card.)

Where can I find the most recent (the only one I found was over a year old) list of
hardware compatible with Linux?

I assume that I need to ask Caldera about their Linux, so my question probably pertains
only to non-commercial Linux distributions.

Thanks for your help.
