Does anyone know if this camera will even work with linux?
I have kernel 2.4.18 and
all required usb modules

It looks like my problem has to do with the scsi device not being
created

any help will be greatly apreciated thanks

Ok to get this camera to work in linux you need  to edit one line in
the file transport.h in the linux kernel source for usb mass storage.
The corrected line should read:
#define US_BULK_CS_SIGN0x55425355/* spells out 'USBS' */
the line being edited looks just like this but i think the 55425355 is
5325355.

after changing this you can remake your modules and lsmod the
mass_storage module. Mount the scsi device that has been created
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /home/camera

view you pictures with any picture viewer.

just for curiosity... how did you get this number?
I have a digital camera, but I don't know if i will ever manage to make it work.
When i install the usb-storage module nothing change and on lsmod it appears as
unused.
Any advice?
thanks.

1. Olympus digital camera and Linux

Dear experts,

I have just bought an Olympus mju-300 (aka stylus 300) and I have failed
to make it communicate with any of the three 'photo-programs' I found
in Mandrake 9.1. The camera is hooked up to the computer via USB and
the hardware config. utility of Mandrake identifies it correctly
but the programs ignore it and /mnt/camera is empty.

I have scanned google for 'olympus stylus 300 linux' but basically
only found a zillion copies of the same very positive 'private' 'review'
of the camera. Any leads will be greatfully accepted. Untill then I
will have to resort to booting into my Win98 to download pictures.

Cheers,
