Very Computer

I have just installed SUSE 7.2 with 2.4.4 kernel,
and have used ALSA
which seems to detect my NM256 AV OK.

But then I do:
linux:~ # modprobe snd-card-nm256
/lib/modules/2.4.4-4GB/misc/snd-card-nm256.o: init_module: No such
device

including invalid IO or IRQ parameters

failed

Does anybody have any ideas?

I am happy to do additional tests, or supply extra info...

Be careful: some models of Latitude (LS and LSt for sure) have a buggy
NM256... I have never gotten the ALSA driver to work, but the
kernel-tree driver WILL work, provided you use a one-line patch to the
source. See the Latitude laptop page for the details.
