Got a question about my zip drive on a second parallel port. How does
one get the damn thing to get noticed? When I first installed my Red Hat
5.1 os and asked my if I had any scssi adapters, I said yes and clicked
on the zip ppa option. Linux was not able to detect the thind and I've
tried to build a driver for it but to no avail. I probably don't know
what I'm doing hun. Typical.

You may not have the right version of the ppa driver. I noticed when
I got my second parallel port that the version of ppa included in
kernel 2.0.33 and .34 only scans for zip drives on LPT1. (I can't vouch
for 2.1.x kernels.)

If this is what's wrong, then the fix is easy - download the latest
(or later) version of ppa. I have v1.42, which works fine - it scans
*all* known parallel-port addresses.

I don't remember the URL for getting ppa, but it should be easy to find.
Try looking under "Linux Links" on the LDP page (www.sunsite.unc.edu/LDP)
for the Linux Parallel Port page.
