Amazing Intel i740 display card ! Please help !!

Chris-

Not enough info to feel really confident, but here is what I found...

The xf86config file had all other resolutions commented out. I edited the
file to represent the display characteristic I wanted and then, viola,
everything worked beautifully. I know plenty of people who run Linux on AGP
i740 cards successfully. Keep hacking and you'll get it.

Hi, Chris,
I have an i740 AGP, and what I did to config it was just replace the
normal XF86_SVGA with the X server XBF_i740. Then reconfigure it,
it works well for me.

As for your case, there must be some link problems. Try to run X, xinit, etc.
If using one of them, u will get a 1600*1024, then try to get the path of
that.
Then look to see if startx is also starting from that path.

Hopefully, that will help.

Shitcan the i740. I spent a week on configuring mine and no go .. I even
had all of the newest releases of the XF servers and XF itself.
I got a RIVA TNT and after I reinstalled all the latest drivers, it came
up first time.

i740 is a Win only card .. more or less ...

This is BS, the i740 is a kickass card under linux.  Get the
XBF-i740-glibc-1.0.0-1.i386.rpm or XBF-i740-libc5-1.0.0-1.i386.rpm and
xf86config-glibc-1.0.0.i386.tar or xf86config-libc5-1.0.0.i386.tgz  and the
README file .Read the README file,Install the server, make your symbolic link
as the README states, unzip the xf86config file, run it as root and pick your
card fron the list. IF for some reason you still have problems please email me.

1. Intel i740 Display Card

   Hi, there!

Does anyone have an idea on how to get an Intel i740 video card to work
with Red Hat 6.0 or should I purchase Red Hat 6.1?

By the way, I heard that XFree86 version 3.3.5 can support Intel i740,
but how am I going to install it afer downloading from the Net? My screen
resolution is something like 320 x 200. I've tried to remark the line that
contains the word Virtual ..., and attempt to change the resolution by
pressing Ctrl + Alt + Keypad(+ or -) but seems that nothing is happening.
Anyone out there can help me?

   Thanks!
