Hi all- I recently installed an Acer 50X CD-ROM on my win/linux RH6.1
box, and the Linux part can no longer do anything with it. If I try to
mount it, i get an error message saying "mount: /dev/cdrom had the wrong
major or minor number." I am pretty new to linux and I don't have any
idea what this means. it also gives me some errors during startup:
hdc: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc: packet command error: error=0x54
ATAPI device hdc:
Error: Illegal request -- (Sense key=0x05)
Parameter list length error -- (asc=0x1a, ascq=0x00)
The failed "Mode Sense" packet command was:
"5a 00 2a 00 00 00 00 00 18 00 00 00 "

Now, I don't know what this means either...if anybody has any
suggestions on how to get this working it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running Redhat 6.1 with kernel 2.2.13 on a Gateway G5-233 PI-233
Thanks,
