Please Help Internal Modem won't work uner Red Hat 6.1

Please help me,
I have a problem with my Web Excel 56K dual Mode internal
modem. I tried setting up a PPP connection with KPPP and Dial Up
Configuration but both the programs can't seem to find my modem. I tried
using the auto configure options and I also tried setting it up manually
by telling it which COM port my modem was on but it still didn't work. So
does anybody know what the problem might be and be able to help me out on
this one please??? Thanks in advance!!!

You probably have a LoseModem, so there's no way.  Check the link below
and see if your model is actually on the chart.  Most internal PCI
modems are LoseModems, which means Linux users are screwed.  Your best
bet is probably to buy a cheap external modem; those are *much* easier
to set up than any internal ever made.

Maybe you have a winmodem-- see
http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html.  If you do, you'll need a
different modem to use with Linux.
