Earlier, I've brought up the question on how to make X work with the ATI
Rage Mobility chipset.
This chipset sits in my Compaq Armada V300 among others.
I've only made the chipset work with the 3.3.6 SVGA server, which is
very slow.
Happily, it works very fine with the ati module of XFree86 4.0.
Just set it up with XFree86 3.3.6 or the like and compile the whole
thing without any mods to the site.defs file. Then make install and
install.man and use xf86config to make a basic XF86Config file. Now
you're up and running. It worked for me at least.
Tested with:
Compaq Armada V300 w/ ATI Rage Mobility 2xAGP
Mandrake 7.0 (and 7.0-2 ;-)
Linux 2.2.14
XFree86 4.0 source distribution
