linux on P75 or 486/100

Hi

Does anyone know of performance comparision of running
linux on a Pentinum 75 and a 486 DX4 100Mhz. Do the architectural
innovations in Pentium affect the performance very much ?

        replies will be appreciated.

Thanks

 What are you going to use it for? I'd recommend a AMD 5x86 133 over a 486 DX4 100Mhz.
Also if you do go Pentium DON'T go 75Mhz! Get a 100Mhz. (MUCH FASTER!)
66Mhz memory bus speed -vs- 50Mhz & 33Mhz PCI -vs- 25Mhz PCI
In general the only Pentiums I'd consider buying are the 100, 133, 166 & 200Mhz
as the others all have slower memory, cache & PCI bus speeds and therefore you
actually get less for your $$$.

Actually I believe the triton I chip set defines the PCI speed as 1/2 the

are all 30Mhz or 33Mhz. A different chip set may vary well work differently.

Well, it's true about the buss-spped but the PCI aren't 25 MHz on a P75.
It's up to the motherboard, mine is clock buss-speed / 1.5, hense 33 MHz.

1. Performance Increase: 486/DX2 66 to 486/DX4 100

I'd like to know what kind of a performance increase I can
expect by swapping my 486/DX2 66 for an AMD 486/DX4 100, and by getting a
motherboard (VLB) with 256K cache (my current board has no external
cache).

Also, how much of an increase would I get over the above by
putting in a 486/DX5 120?  And how much more would it cost me?
