I am trying to connecting to internet by dial-up. After I created
ppp-on, ppp-off and ppp-on-dialer files, I typed "ppp-on", nothing
happened. No sound came out from modem.

My modem is: Compaq Presario 336-DF 56K Upgradeable.
Please someone help me. Please!

Go to Compaq's website and do a search for your computers hardware specs
- I do tech support for Symantec's Winfax Pro 9.0, and when ever I get a
call from a customer stating they have a Compaq, I always go there first
- 90% of the time, they list either a Winmodem or Flex Modem in their
hardware specs - then you're SOL - It's a hardware issue.
