AHA1510

Post by Willem vdAkke » Thu, 05 Mar 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I've a system with a AHA1510 SCSI-adapter. I configured the system for a

SCSI AHA1520-adapter on 0x340,11,7 but the adapter is not seen by
startup.
The systeem 'sees' 1 SCSI adapter, but thats the one from my ZIP-drive.

Is there a problem using a AHA1520 driver with a AHA1510?

The system is compiled for not using modules.

Any ideas, helps ?

Greetings

I doubt it's an AHA1510/AHA1520-specific problem; I've been trying to
configure an AHA1542 with the AHA1542 driver (tried kernel and module),
and it also just detects our IOmega Zip drive and not the SCSI card.
I've tried with the Zip drive off and it detects none. I try insmod
aha1542 and there's 3 unresolved arguments which I can't understand.

I'm thinking of reinstalling Redhat 5 and specifying it at install time,
then hopefully it will install & mount it for me in future.

Any other ideas?

-Paul

I installed the card on 0x340, I can change it to 0x140 and see if it make
a difference.

1. Bootparameters for LILO - AHA1510, HEEEELP!!!

OK, I'm about to give up this damn SCSI-trail and go out and buy myself
a nice EIDE-drive instead, but since I got this disk (and an ancient 60MB
QIC24 tape!) for free I'll give it one more try. But just one more....

I've picked up the boot/root-disks for Slackware 2.3.0 and installed the
A and AP packages. (Amazing isn't it? I've installed it, but cannot boot it...)

I've created a LILO boot-disk from within the setup-program and from what I
can judge it's ok. At least it boots from the diskette...

But, what am I supposed to type to make it boot the just installed software???
I've read the HOWTO, FAQ, etc. but still no success.

So in short:

when I get the 'boot:' from LILO, what shall I type to make it boot from
/dev/sda1 over the AHA1510??

Thanks in advance,

-Stefan
