USB IrDA dongle for Linux

USB IrDA dongle for Linux

I'm looking for an USB IrDA dongle for connecting a laptop to a Nokia
6610.  The biggest problem seems to be to find a dongle that works
with Linux.  The Actisys IR-2000U seems to be a good one but it is
impossible to get.  Have you recently bought a dongle that you can use
with Linux?  Which one?  Are there any models I should avoid?

Sitecom has, afaik, a good support to linux.
You could try:

1. USB IrDA dongle does not work

Hi,

I bought an IrDA dongle from EBay and now it seems that it is not
supported. The device is called "ES620". It's grey and as big as a
matchbox. I use Debian sarge with kernel 2.6.11.

If I plug in the dongle I get the following on /var/log/messages:

Aug 20 10:37:54 machine kernel: usb 1-2: new low speed USB device using
uhci_hcd and address 4
Aug 20 10:37:59 machine kernel: usb 1-2: hald timed out on ep0in

I assume the second message is harmless, because I get it with every
USB-Device, though they work.

"lsusb" shows:

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 07d0:4100 Dazzle

And usbview shows:

Several messages found on the internet suggest, that this device is a
"MA600" compatible. But loading the drivers for it doesn't work. Does
anybody know if this device is supported, and if yes, what drivers do
I need? And in what order do I have to load them?
