[snip]

0x04:  sector not found, typically indicating a geometry mismatch
0x10:  CRC error--LILO's loading map has been put somewhere that
contains bad blocks.  Try re-running LILO to put the map somewhere else
on the disk.

If this happens occasionally, it probably means your hard drive's going
bad.  See about replacing/upgrading it--if it's under warranty, call the
manufacturer/OEM.  If not, well, hard drives are cheap these days.

I am trying to install linux to a 386 with 16 mb of ram and a 40mb IDE
hard drive.  I took the hard drive and put it in my pentium and
installed it just fine.  When I moved the hard drive to the 386, it
would not start up.  Instead, it would just put a L and a bunch of 04s
on the screen.  I've seen this before like when I put a 1.44 mb floppy
image to a 1.2mb disk.  I can't seem to figure out what is wrong.  I put
the 40mb hard drive back into the pentium and it booted just fine
without any problems.
