Mylex/BusLogic BT-930 SCSI adapter???

Post by Wei F » Sat, 03 Jan 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

I am trying to install Linux on my home computer. The first problem I
have is whether I can find the driver for Mylex/BusLogic BT-930 SCSI
adapter. I have searched some sites, but haven't found the right one. Am
I out of luck?

Any suggestion?

Thanks,

-wei

Go to mylex.com, there is a link there for Mylex drivers. FWIW, the
driver for my BT-948 was already in the kernel (2.0.31).

I believe that the 930 is know as 'flashpoint' and is completely
different
from the 948/958 cards.  The latest driver (2.10) is available at
http://www.dandelion.com/Linux and contains drivers almost all the
Buslogic
cards including the flashpoint.  If you need boot disketts, redhat's are
available for download and have flashpoint drivers.

I'm using a BT-930 on my Redhat setup, it's part of kernel 2.0.30.   hen
doing a "make config" to build a new kernel, answer yes to Mylex/Buslogic
support, and then answer yes to Flashpoint support.  That's all there is to
it.

I have the same SCSI adapter in my PC and I don't have any problem with
drivers. Try http://www.dandelion.com/Linux/BusLogic.html

You'll find all the info you will need there.

Good luck,

Alex Dukhon.

1. BusLogic BT-930 SCSI adapter

I am trying to install linux on a P133 system (Micron Millenia Plus)
that has a BusLogic BT-930 ultra SCSI host adapter with a 2GB SCSI
Conner hard drive. The port IO address of the adapter is set by the
BIOS (PhoenixBIOS version 4.04) to 0xF800. Using
ramdisk buslogic=0xf800 complains of illegal address. I understand
that for buslogic cards the adresses supported are 0x130, 0x230, 0x330

Has anyone used this SCSI card with linux? Is there a way to change the
port IO address in the BIOS, and if yes will the
ramdisk buslogic=0xNNN will make recognize the adapter at boot?
Any comments/suggestions?

Thanks,

Dimitris.
