compatability DAT 4586NP

Anyone have experience with an Archive Conner (probably the wrong name)
4586NP DAT shuffling back up system? Found some at a decent price and
was interested in getting one. Want to know if anyone has had any
experience with one.

Please be sure to cc: me via email. Remove the nospam to email me back.

BTW, it is not mentioned in the HArdware How to
athttp://sunsite.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO.html

TIA,

John

John,I work at Seagate in the tape tech support department supporting
tape devices. I support the UNIX enviroment and I am very familiar with
the 4586NP (Archive Python) DAT Autoloader.
Linux is not a supported OS by Seagate (bummer) but UNIX in general
doesn't really care. The device installs as a standard 4mm DAT drive.
The autoloader is LUN 1 while the drive itself resides at LUN 0.
The auto loader function can be taken care of manually or by scripting.
If you 800-seagate you can go into the SeaFax are and get a hold of the
faxback catalog. Once you get that call again and get the faxback listed
in the UNIX area that relates to scripts for autoloaders.
