Hi,
I just purchased a new Athlon 64 3200+ Venice core based PC.
When I will pick it up, within 2 days, it will be "*" (without OS) and I
intend to bring with me a Knoppix 4.0 CD to test it at the shop.

My question: How can I verify that I indeed got the Venice core (rather than
older Winchester) using Knoppix? e.g., what the expected contents
of /proc/cpuinfo?

BTW, the mobo is Gigabyte K8NF-9 (S-939).

Unless they've got different stepping info (which I doubt)
the only way is to remove the cpu heatsink and compare the
code on cpu with what you expect it to be from AMD.

Sorry for the lateness...

The best I can tell, Venice supports SSE3 and Winchester does not. This is
indicated by PNI in the flags (pni = sse3). Here is my Venice 3000+ (not
