Redhat, NEC 3x cdrom & sb16 scsi2

Post by Galliva » Tue, 31 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I need to know if there is a driver for the NEC 3x
cdrom. I have that drive and a sb16 scsi 2 snd. card that I can't get
linux to recognize. Tried many options and configurations (read the
docs) to no avail. Please help...

I don't know if you are aware that the scsi controller on the sb-16 is
an adaptec 154x controller. I have one as well. I have appended lilo to
boot it, but you can do it by:
lilo linux aha152x=0x340,11,7,1
This works for me. Try looking under the HOWTO-SCSI to get further help.
You should be able to use any scsi cd-rom once it has been detected.

Try this..!
Edit /etc/lilo.conf and put the following line:

append="aha152x=0x340,11,7,1"

Save lilo.conf
Then type     lilo
Press ENTER

It works fine in debian/linux ver. 2.0
NB.
aha152x is the SCSI-type on my snd. card
0x340 is the IO
11 is IRQ
7 is DMA
1 is enable(something)
I am not having the userguide on my table but as far as I remember -
You have to do the strapping.

        Good Luck
