www.nvidia.com should hold a set of TNT/TNT2 generic X servers, which are
devel but really good i think... no problem running my viper550 and none with
the Maxi Gamer xentor TNT2 16

I have the same distro.
I  have a RivaTNT2 Ultra and I went to NVidia's site and got their X server
and my card works alright (in some modes).
Goto www.nvidia.com and download the X server from their software section, I
also highly recommend getting their FAQ file too, it'll help you out.

Subsystem: Asustek Computer, Inc.: Unknown device 1434

The "Unknown device is a 8600A series notbook
and *eveything* on it works fine on linux, even the
AC'97 sound as well as the windows modem.

So it generally isn'y true that producst from ASUS don't
work under linux....
