That's for the keyboard, plug it in there.

: 9 pin serial port on Linux. Can someone give me some clues as to how I'm

Use the db25 connector that's on the back, and a null modem cable.

well, not necessarily, some networks use 10baseT cables to connect terminals
so you may be looking at one of those.  However, if that is the case, then
there should be an adapter than you can remove, underneath of which is a 25
pin serial connector.  The "phone jack" type connector for the keyboard should
be smaller, and it should be recessed into the case, so you can tell the diff.

Do this: if the thing that looks like a phone jack sticks out the back of the
case pretty far, then try and remove it...screws, clips, or just sheer brute
force should do the trick.  Then underneath that there will be a serial
connection and I'm sure you can figure everything out from there :)
but as Matthew Cummings mentioned, you need a null modem cable....
I hope this helps...

Yes, but if you're making up the cable, you might as well wire 1 and 6
as well and avoid overruns.  I don't know what the V320 is like, but
VT100s are very prone to overruns at 19200bps and above (not that you
can read the text going by at that speed :-).

NO, no, no...

Don't do anything to this RJ-11 connector, that's the one that looks like a phone jack. Contact Digital Equipment Corp (DEC), and ask them for a pinout for this to DB25, maybe even post to comp.sys.dec? (or something like that?) The pinouts are inside of the VT320 manual. After you make/acquire the proper cable, make it null, or connect it to a null-modem adapter. Connect this to your serial port on your PC running linux and you are all set!

I will look for the pin-outs for you, but no promises as I am no where near any for awhile, gotta go look in my closet and dust them off :-)

Mike Ibarra

The vt320s use some freak rj-?? with an offset on it. I doubt a std
RJ-11 will fit. Your safest bet is to buy, from Digital, a vt320 cable
and a converter from rj-?? to db-25.

If you need pin-outs let me know.

The freak-RJ45 is called (DEC) MMJ.

It won't.

1. vt300 of vt320 terminfo source

I am looking for the terminfo source for a vt300 or vt320.  I am
using SunOS 4.1.1 with the Sys V optional software installed.  Unfortunately,
it does not provide the source file.  Could someone please direct me
to a good source for this?
