Syquest internal IDE drive or IOmega Zip?

Syquest internal IDE drive or IOmega Zip?

Post by Jim Valavani » Fri, 05 Apr 1996 04:00:00

Hi again,

I want to know if anyone uses Syquest EZ-Drive internal IDE on their
LINUX system?? I am running LINUX 1.2.13.

Will I have problems??  Do I need some special drivers??

How would I go about mounting this system to create backups??

One more thing...  I don't have SCSI port so would the zip drive be a
better choice for backups??
And can I also boot directly off of the syquest or the zip drive?

Sorry so many questions but I appreciate any answers.

Thanks,
Jim

Well, I don't have an EZ-Drive, but I DO have a Syquest 270 IDE internal.
It seems to work quite well.  The one thing to note, is that you cannot
change cartridges without a kernel patch.  I have a copy of the patch,
somehwere, but have not gotten around to installing it.  It'll probably
will work (the EZ-Drive) with no problems.  Have fun.  LaTeR.

No and no.  I have an EZ135 internal drive on the EIDE first channel,
slave device (because I want to boot off my SCSI disks, not the EIDE
one).

mount /dev/hdb /ez -t ext2

I don't see why?

Quote:> And can I also boot directly off of the syquest or the zip drive?

Yes.
