I just bought the Epson, and so far I'm very happy with it. It
seems to print at home just as well as the examples in the store
(i.e. good on "normal" paper, excellent on the ink-jet stuff). I can
send it plain text, unlike my old Postsript printer. It's fast as
ink-jets go (a little slower than my HP-2P clone), althought it's
fairly slow (and noisy!) starting up.
My only problems are that so far I haven't been able to get
ghostscript to be a "filter" for lpr (I just it on the command line -
wors fine, but more typing). Also, gs seems to send binary data even
if the Postscript file was text/fonts data. I think I'll set up a "raw"
print que and write a "filter" that converts, say HTML or troff
commands to Epson.
