--- XFree 4.0 --- with a 3DLabs Oxygen GVX1

Hi all!

I'm trying to install XFree86 4.0 and I get an error when testing the
configuration. So please read the error snippet to help me!

Description:
I have a 3DLabs Oxygen GVX1 with Glint Gamma G1 and Glint R3 processors
onboard. I looked into the graphic cards supported list (
http://www.xfree86.org/4.0/Status3.html ) and it says Gamma is
supported, but what about the Glint R3? As you can see, the Gamma chip
is detected properly (so it seems), however not used... huh? Or does
"used chips: 0" mean that it is using chip #0?

Can anyone answer this^ question?

Even below there's something saying, that there's no framebuffer memory.
Now the question comes up, which of the two chips (Glint Gamma G1 or the
Glint R3) is effectively controlling the framebuffer. The Glint Gamma G1
is a hardware geometry processor (G for geometry), so I'd assume that
one does not control the framebuffer. The other chip, the Glint R3, is
an advanced rendering pipeline processor (R for rendering or
rasterization), so this one must be the chip to control the framebuffer.
It's just an assumption though! Does anyone know???

What might I try to get the GVX1 installed? Nothing at all, because the
rasterizer chip does not appear in the driver list? But what about
predecessors of the 3DLabs professional chipsets?

I have no idea! Otherwise I'll have to plugin my TNT2 and try to
redirect all output to it. But how? NEXT THREAD!

Any help appreciated!!!

Karsten

1. 3DLabs Oxygen GVX1

Hi,
I am also looking for a similar solution. I haven't been able to get my
Oxygen card to work in any graphics mode except 640x480 from the SVGA
driver. I am not against re-installing 3.3.6 if this is known to get some
results. Anyone have any ideas? Oddly enough the mouse pointer is often
visible when it is trying to activate a graphics mode.

Cheers,
Nicholas.
