qic-40 and qic-80

Post by Jason W Karn » Thu, 03 Oct 1996 04:00:00

A friend of mine gave me several qic-40 tapes that are the
same type as my qic-80 tapes, just formatted in qic-40.
Does anyone know how to reformat qic-40 tapes to qic-80
on a qic-80 drive?  The error message I'm getting right
now is, "Read only File system."

Check out the Ftape-HOWTO.
As I seem to remember, it says that tapes in general cannot be
formatted under Linux because noone has written a tape formatting
util.  You could always use a DOS util to do it.

1. qic-40 & qic-80

Does any one know how to reformat a qic-40 tape on
a qic-80 drive to the qic-80 standard?  Everything I
have tried returns "Read-only filesystem."
