Voice Modem Voice Mail Suggestion

Voice Modem Voice Mail Suggestion

Post by David Cowa » Fri, 17 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I am wanting to use my linux machine as an answering machine and fax answer.
I need a suggestion on what modem to get prefferably cheap that has good
voice support in linux...   also some suggestions on software would be good.
I eventually want to be able to check my voice mail over the web if there is
anything out there to do that... or simplify it.

Thanks,

David Cowan

Go to http://www.freshmeat.net and search for "voice mail".
There are many good leads in there.

To extend this line, how about bi-directional, auto-answer, fax
software?  We're trying to run WinFAX-Pro on a W95 machine, and its
driving us crazy rebooting it to get the printer, an HP-1100 lazerjet,
back online.  I mean rebooting it many times a day!  This is a busy
machine, and fax traffic can easily exceed 300/day incoming alone.

We'ed be glad to pay for something that actually works.  Can SO5.1 do
that?

Cheers, Gene

1. Any voice mail apps for Sportster 28.8 Voice Mail modem?

Has anyone written an application that will allow me to use
the voice mail support provided by my Sportster 28.8 Voice Mail
modem?

I looked at the Linux Software Map, but all I found was a
single application, written for a ZyXel modem.  Browsing
a SunSite mirror didn't unearth anything either.

Thanks for all help!
Andrew
