Very Computer

This drive doesnt work with any sb cdrom drivers I've seen, and there are no
funai ones I have seen.  Help?  anyone?  This is the cdrom drive that was
advertised *everywhere*  (computer stores) for 69$, shipped by creative, but
the manufacturer is funai.

I just installed one in a system for someone.  If you have the interface card
that Creative Labs ships with the drive it's no problem.  The interface and CD
work with the sbpcd standard driver.  You can find it under the Slakware Q
series of kernels on the distribution disk if you have one.  If you installing
from scratch and are doing the dos/windows install scripts for install/root
disks select the creative labs / panasonic option.

If you have the interface that Creative uses for the CD drive you should have
no problem using the sbpcd driver with the drive.  You can select it from the
slakware Q series of kernels. I think it's sbpcd1, I just installed it for
someone with no problems. Also if you are installing from scratch with the
dos/windows install script select creative labs / panasonic cdrom.  If you
don't have the interface you may need to get on that supports the drive or it
may be cheaper to buy a quad speed IDE cdrom.
