I am using a generic IDE CD-ROM, jumpered as master, on a secondary IDE
interface. Linux detected it nicely on /dev/hd1a, added it to /etc/mtab,
and I could even mount it and look at the files on a cd in the drive.
then I rebooted.
the entry was for it in mtab was gone. the slackware setup, in the
configure section, could no longer detect it in hardware.
I have checked hardware inside the box, and it does not appear to be a
case of loose cabling; dos still recognizes it just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas, or suggestions on where to start? This one has
me baffled.
