Trident 9440 Drivers with a 640x400 256 color monitor

I'm having trouble trying to get my graphics to work at 640x400.
I'm able to get the system to work VGA and 320x200 SVGA. But
I can't seem to step it up to 640x400 SVGA. I'm running a
Trident 9440. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do
or where I can look? Thanks in advance.

1. 256 colors with SVGAlib on Trident 9440

Is it possible to get SVGAlib to treat the Trident 9440 as an SVGA
card, instead of it sticking me with the VGA driver?
I need to get 256 colors at 640x480. Higher reslutions would be nice,
but are not as important; getting 256 colors is!
