I'm currently shopping for a 20" or 21" monitor for a linux system. I was
thinking about the NEC XE21 but I see that it will only run to 1280x1024 at
60Hz. Does anyone have any experience with this monitor or others running at
this rate, or any suggestions of a better choice? Thanks.

I have a 20" ViewSonic which runs with a Mach64 under linux just

just fine - no ficker. Up and running on first try even. Also,
the 20" ViewSonics are like <$1400 and offer .28 pitch along
with 72Hz refresh rates at 1280x1024. Max res goes up 1600x1200
or something.

I use a ViewSonic 21PS. It will do 1600x1200 at 66Hz and 1280x1024 at 77Hz.
