Can Linux be installed and booted from a removable Iomega Jaz SCSI
disk?  Is there a FAQ on this?

wouldnt know about JAZ drives, but here's something from
a great magazine called UNIXWORLD.

August 1996 issue pages 29-33

To mount a ZIP drive with MSDOS format on SCSI ID 5

$ mount -t msdos /dev/sdb4/mnt

To use it with a LINUX file system :-

$ mk2fs -c -v /dev/sdb4

$ mount -t ext2 -rw /dev/sdb4 /mnt

Refinements to backing up ZIP drives

CHANGE from
        find . -print | cpio -ocudrv -C131072 > /dev/rzip
TO:-
        find . -print | cpio -ocudrv -C16384 -O  > /dev/rzip

These instructions were courtesy of Jan-Arendt Klingel

1. iomega jaz drive: supported?

Any problems with the scsi Iomega jaz (1gb) drive (and linux, of course)?
My scsi controller is the buslogic 946 or 956.

...thinking of getting one for archiving and general use.

thanks,
