Hi all,
Our company just purchased an Indy and we love it. We did not get a
CD-ROM drive with it but we would like to use a surplus NEC 2x drive
that was purchased for and used on a Macintosh. We would like to use it
on the INDY but we are having some trouble with it. The drive is a NEC
Model CDR-210 in an external case that has two 50 pin centronics SCSI
connectors and RCA out jacks. We connected the NEC drive (scsi ID#3) to
the Indy with a Belkin 4' micro50 to Centronics 50 cable. An Archive
DDS-2 DAT drive (scsi ID #4. It is from APS Technologies and works
beautifully if we leave the CD-ROM drive off) is connected to the CD-ROM
drive via a standard cent. 50 to cent. 50 cable. When we start the
system up we get the following message:
sc0,3,0: cmd=0x12 Unexpected info phase 47, state 40. Resetting SCSI
bus sc0,3: SCSI parity error
SCSI device/cable diagnostic *FAILED*
I know it is not the Belkin cable because I use the same cable with the
Archive DAT drive and it works perfectly. I suppose it could be the 50
to 50 cable between the CD-ROM and DAT but I did try two different 2'
cables (both were from the same manufacturer though). The DAT drive
work fine in all instances. I suspect it is a problem with the CD-ROM
drive. Any suggestions are appreciated.
TIA!
-Dave
